Recording
on: August 24, 2011, 04:44:09 PM
Hi,
I think I'm a little over my head...  I have a Kurzweil sp4-8 and haven't recorded music ever.  I just begun recording music using my Iphone.  The Video is good, but the audio is horrible.  I have a very capable computer as well and would like to start recording into my computer.  I honestly don't know where to begin.  I read that I should plug my computer into the piano's Audio Outputs but I need those to hear what I'm playing!  I must be missing something... I know its not this hard!  :D Thanks for any suggestions.

Sounds odd to me.  I'd take the keyboard's output and plug them in to the computer's audio input.  Then use recording software to record your playing.

There are several programs for recording.  I use Tracktion which is a 'simple' recording studio program, but is not free.  Audicity is good, and I think free.  Windows includes 'Sound Recorder' but it is very limited.

Of course, these just record audio.  If you want video too, you'll need a different solution.
Albeniz: Suite Espaņola #1, Op 47,
Bach: French Suite #5 in G,
Chopin: Andante Spianato,
Chopin: Nocturne F#m, Op 15 #2
Chopin: Ballade #1 Gm & #3 Aflat Mj

He (that is to say, you OP :P) could always record video footage with the Iphone and record sound into the computer with a microphone and Audacity (which is free and gets the job done if you want to record) and then edit together the footage from the Iphone with the audio from Audacity in a separate program (I think Windows Movie Maker could get the job done), It sounds a bit complicated but it is actually really easy and I've done similar stuff loads of times.

Use a splitter jack to be able to use your headphones and computer then use 'Audacity' which is a free program. But Lell's suggestion would probably sound better....

Thanks guys,

I did just that, bought a splitter and used my headphones.  Downloaded Audacity and successfully recorded.  Used my Iphone to record video.  Uploaded them both and sync'd em' together in Window's movie maker.  End result:
!  Thanks again. ~Robby

Since I play mostly Pop and some Electric Rock that's what I listen to. Of course I could never stop appreciating the classics.
