Does anyone else here use his/her ipad for reading sheetmusic to play? I use it now for a few months and it is just large enough for me to read, and with imslp I think I dont need my books anymore. My teacher still likes books better, but I want to use ipad! There is also good annotation software.
studying:

Beethoven sonata no. 1 op. 2
Bach Prelude and Fugue in g-major, WTCII
Schumann fantasie stucke op.12 (no. 1,2)

I'd like to use my iPad, but i've not found a good sheet music app yet.  Just viewing pdf files is fine for research and study, but not so good for reading while playing, need to be able to turn 'pages' with a swipe of a finger.  Someone will produce and app for that soon, I hope.

For me ibooks works fine with turning pages, Just a gentle touch and the pages goes to the next, faster than with a book.

And I use forscore for annotations, which is also in general a good sheetmusoc app. I will just tell my teacher that any extra time this will cost will be on my account:)

Now this is really interesint news!  How big is the I pad?  Is it as big a sheet music?  Is the notation big enough to read?  Does it stand up alright on the music stand?  I had heard about this but not acutally spoke to anyone in person.  Fill me in!!

The iPad has a viewing area of about 8" x 6".  Not as big as I'd like for reading music while playing, but big enough for study.

Hi Krystelle,

I'd gladly share my experiences. It stands fine at where my books otherwise stand, easily because it is thinner than most books. The notes are small, but I have no problem reading the notes, a benefit is that the notes are small but sharp. If you want larger notes you can put your ipad in 'landscape position', they will get a bit larger, and you can perhaps adjust some settings then for easy page flipping since not the whole page in that case will fit on the screen, but I dont do that, I just see a full page on the screen usually, only when annotating I ocassionally put it in landscape position. I use imslp and often there are many versions of some piece, some seem to be readable a bit better than other. One other fun thing is when I finished studying I allow myself some fun(ok studing should be as much fun as possible as well) and think of some composer I would like to play something from and go to imslp sitting behind the piano and volia... I think maybe some people might have to adapt to the small notes initially, but for me I got used to that pretty fast, and do it like this for a few months now. The reason I bought my ipad in the first place was to use for reading sheetmusic.

They are really fun to use too!

I got ForScore, it works great!  Thanks zeusje for telling me the name of the app.
I have the Kindle app too.  There are many free kindle books on music subjects available.  Most of these are old books that have been converted to kindle format by volunteers.  Old books or not, they are interesting to read.
