first of all,
don't copy someone
second, erez bores me terribly...the fantasy impromtu is played rather dull, the only good one on that site is the g-minor ballade
if you're comparing who's better at the fantasy impromtu...i don't even think that's a contest...same with the noct., if you're comparing who might be better at chopin....that too is no question...yundi wasn't the youngest to win the chopin competition for no reason
if you don't agree with me that's fine...but i recommend you to watch this and judge for yourself

I like Yundi Li's preformance better. He has a singing quality to his music and he looks more relaxed. His music also sounds more interesting, but that's just me

Oh my, that Yundi Li video is outrageously hilarious. Those reporters are downright
obnoxious
. Talk about playing under pressure.. If one of them stuck a camera in my face while I was playing I would give them a good smack upside the forehead, hopefully with a little damage to their high-dollar cameras to boot.
Anyway, there is really no contest. At least Yundi plays the Fantasie Impromptu correctly
, unlike his counterpart.

i know what part you are making reference to because i noticed it right away as well, but surprisingly...in some editions, that is the correct way to play the left hand ovctaves, i have a score that has it written like that, which was also suprising to me...because even though i learned this piece with that score...i never noticed it before
that section only arrives twice in the whole piece...the frist time (in my edition) it is written for left hand octaves
g# a g# f## g# g#
then the second time it is written like most every one recognizes:
g# g# a g# f## g#
so it flip flops: the first time you start with 1 g# and end with 2...and the second time you start with 2 g#'s and end with 1
most people play that section as g# g# a g# f## g#....such as van cliburn and yundi
but in some editions....erez is playing it right, although, he plays it the same both times and doesn't switch to the other way as it's written on the second occasion, so i guess you could say he's playing it half right, even though i've never heard anybody but him play that section like it's written in my score....why there is two different versions i am not sure....but i'll try to dig out that edition and i'll repost it so you can look at it for yourself

Yes, that'd be interesting. I've never seen this or heard of it before, so I guess it just adds to the long list of Fantasie-Impromptu renditions and changes that there are in the world.

the version i have is 32 pages long...it has a very insteresting write up about chopin in the beginning...regarding the fantasy...is has two versions in the book
the first version is titled Fantaisie-Impromtu Fontana Edition
-this is from 1855...Fontana allegedly based his version on a manuscript dated 1834...this is the version that everyone knows and plays...except Erez...Fontana based his interpretation off of these 1834 manuscripts that were authorized by chopin's family...he also stated that he was urged to produce his interpretation from chopin's family directly
the second version in the book is titled Fantaisie-Impromtu
-this version was written in 1972 my Maurice J.E. Brown and was part of his
Chopin: An Index of His Works In Chronological Order
, this is the version that Erez plays...I'm not sure why there are significant differences in the left hand, but there are...it is rarely played, and this is the first time i've ever heard a recording of it played
if you would want the edition i have it is:
Alfred Publishing Co., Edited by Maurice Hinson
titled: Anatomy of a Classic: Classics in Context
Chopin - Fantaisie-Impromtu
