Looking for new repertoire
on: October 09, 2011, 09:34:22 PM
This past school year I played:
Debussy's first volume of Images
Bortkiewicz's Quatre Morceaux, Op. 3
Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto No. 1, Op. 25
However, I'm just looking for things that are a little more on the technical side and that are challenging. I'm pretty much open to any suggestions. Music from any time period and of any length are fine, just no cliche pieces please!
Thank you and I'm sorry if I've left anything out. I'm just an informal piano student so my teacher allows me to play pretty much anything.

How about one of chopin's etudes ( op 25 no 1,6,9,10,11,12), his nocturne op 27 no2, his polonaise heroique, or if you really want a challenge, his ballade 1. Debussy's arabesque 1, liszt's transcendal etude 4.

Thanks guys! I'm definitely looking into the Kapustin; it looks so fun! And I've started some Chopin etudes. I played Debussy's Arabesque but have just realized I haven't played any Liszt recently, so I'll look into the Transcendental Etude.
