Spanish repertoire
on: October 16, 2011, 09:44:00 AM
I'm looking for a piece written by a Spanish composer, but I don't want one of the 'famous' onces such as Albeniz, Granados,...
Anyone knows other ones with interesting music? It may be modern.
Currently learing:
- Chopin: Ballade No.3
- Scriabin: Etude Op. 8 No. 2
- Rachmaninoff: Etude Op. 33 No. 6
- Bach: P&F No 21 WTC I

If you want modern, try Xavier Montsalvatge (Catalan, like Mompou: not spanish), who wrote some wonderful stuff (a.o. a sonatina recorded by Larocha). Or Joaquin Nin-Culmell (Spanish), whose Tonadas are mostly quite beautiful (https://www.classicscore.hut2.ru/N.html, #683). Let me know if you like it!

wow... all these years as Barça soci and now I discover we haven't won 21 Spanish leagues and  25 Spanish Cups... let's stick to music.

Mompou is a genius.
