To do that would take an extraordinary amount of paper/space/time.  You should learn all of the keys first.  After that you'll be able to play the exercises in different keys.  They're not hard to learn.  ;)

Yes, do them in all keys.  I did that.  Not all the exercises, but the ones I did were in all keys.  Not a big deal.  Gives you the feel of other keys.

Hey guys, thank you for your reply.

Transposing them to other keys is not the real problem for me. I think i could do that. But what about the good fingering? Thats the real issue. You dont use the same fingering for other keys, i supose, right?

I dont need all of the 60 exercises, just some of them, some 5 exercises would be great. I need them to improve my fingering for the kind of improvisations i do.

Hi. The fingering remains constant in all keys. All these exercises at least in book 1 , which is what you should be concentrating on  in regard to this, are five finger positions. There is no rotation of the wrist or passing of fingers to assume new positions. Try doing this with in the cycle of fifths. An example would be do exercise #1, but start on G and play F sharp instead of F. Next start on D and Do F Sharp instead of F and C Sharp instead of C. Limit yourself to these transpositions until you get comfortable with the feeling of having some of your fingers up on black notes. Then you can continue to add new Keys. Once your done with the keys where your Right Hand Thumb and Left Hand Pinky are on white notes , it is then time to move to keys where your Thumb and Pinky begin on Black notes. That takes some getting used to, so go easy there. You Start with B flat and go from there.

By the way there are many other things you can do with the hanon exercises. From playing different dynamics, or different touches and eventually mixing them all together.

Best of luck, Kelly

Thank you very much for your reply, Kelly.

So it is ok to use the thumb for black keys? I must use exact the same fingering for both C major scale and C# major scale?

Yes, you use the same fingering for all keys.  There are numerous instances in the classical repertoire where you need to put the thumb on a black key, and there are many other cumbersome fingerings, so this is good practice.
If you want to transpose them easily, do not do the circle of fifths, do them chromatically, i.e. start on C then do C# then D.  With each new key all you have to do is move everything up a half-step.   I've spent countless hours doing these chromaticlly and they are very helpful.

hanon is one of the few things I can transpose easily:  just write the desired number of sharps and flats on the score.  follow the circle of fifths as others have suggested:  flats go B E A D G C F, sharps F C G D A E B.  the fingering remains the same, ie exercise 1 is 1 2 3 4 5 4 3 2 1.  this will frequently put your hand in awkward positions, but so will a lot of music.

overall, I must say I don't find this exercise to be terribly helpful though.  I do find hanon to have a place, but I think that once you master the exercises in C and then play them a few times in other keys, there's more benefit to moving on to different exercises such as liszt technical exercises or brahms 51 or something.  but that's just me.
