The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

In the pantheon of French music, Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) often seems a paradox—an innovator cloaked in restraint, a Romantic by birth who shaped the contours of modern French music with quiet insistence. Piano Street now provides sheet music for his complete piano works: a body of music that resists spectacle, even as it brims with invention and brilliance. Read more

What is the difference between the Solo de Concert (S175a) and Grosses Konzertsolo (S176)? Has any pianist recorded either of these pieces on CD?

I have never heard of "Solo de Concert", but I have heard of Grosses Konzertsolo, Grand Concert Solo, Solo Concerto..

The only recording I have of it is Leslie Howard.

Howard tried to record everything Liszt. I do not know if he succeded, he recorded about 50 CDs in total if I remember corretly.

I want to hear more obscure Liszt too.

The grosses Konzertsolo isnt all that obscure- It is a lot like The B minor Sonata, like an earlier draft in a way.

I consider works like Ungarisch and Galop de Bal to be less known Liszt.

I believe he has completed recording the Liszt piano works, and it's on 95 CD's if I'm not mistaken.

For the most part, I dispise Leslie Howard's recordings because when he plays, it almost feels like he is just a machine that spits out all kinds of music without any deep interpretation or special phrase development.  I also find his touch too abraisive and aggresive, even in the most sensitive works.  Some of his better recordings are the Norma fantasy or the Fantasy and Fugue on the theme BACH.

The rest is barely better than a MIDI, and that exaggeration isnt all too extreme.

Poems of Ecstasy – Scriabin’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

The great early 20th-century composer Alexander Scriabin left us 74 published opuses, and several unpublished manuscripts, mainly from his teenage years – when he would never go to bed without first putting a copy of Chopin’s music under his pillow. All of these scores (220 pieces in total) can now be found on Piano Street’s Scriabin page. Read more
