Lisitsaīs and Hahnīs encore contest

Have you heard about Valentina Lisitsa and Hilary Hahnīs encore contest?

You can send short compositions for violin and piano as PDF and midifiles from November 10:th.

Great idea I think, I am personally working on a piece right now.

I hope they get better results from this round than the 15 they presented in concert last week! Most were dreadful! A few exceptions included one by Lera Auerbach and Einojuhani Rautavaara--maybe one or two others. Most were forgettable, and one required the pianist to play just a single note in a 4-note pattern for at least five minutes. That's taking minimalism to an extreme!

I wonder if my counterpoint piece that almost sounds like a modern Canon is something they will like. It sounds a bit like Ives actually.

I know that one of the encores is written by Penderecki, would love to hear what he wrote for them.
