Bartok - Six Dances in Bulgarian Rhythm
on: November 21, 2011, 03:28:46 PM
these are from a live concert, though i edited out the applause because the crowd was woefully small. the program was called "The Cosmopolitan Pianist" and it featured works all in some nationalistic vein, ie, the italian concerto, spanish rhapsody, etc.
these dances are the final pieces in bartok's mikrokosmos series. i don't know how many young people play them though the other day i did hear a young boy playing no.2. i love all of them but no.1 especially, and no.6. no.4 has a strong jazz feeling to it, but i suspect that is just a coincidence.
UPDATE: video from a different, live performance

What a lively performance! I enjoyed it very much and provided me with another chance to hear Mikrokosmos. Sounds Bulgarian!
