1st off - we had to hide the recorder under a cushioned seat as the organizers of the competition did not allow any recording. The recorder therefore had no straight line to the piano but only received bounced waves to the floor. To make matters worse, the 2nd piano sounded dull.

We will be grateful for any comments or suggestions on Enzo's playing.  THANKS for any response!!

(we will post the video in a month or two once the organizers make it available).

edit:  here is the Youtube audio ... made this post as it is possible some may not be able to play the mp3 file like BIRBA:

Hi Emill,
I didn’t know the piece, and since I’m a simple amateur, may be my opinion is insignificant… :(
Anyway, I think Enzo’s performance is SUPERBE. He has developed a rich, deep musicality,  and  has all the qualities of a pianist of first class. BRAVO!!!!
Good luck for the competition
Margherita

Crap!  For some reason I can't play this video because you need a media-player thing which for some reason my doesn't appear to be kosher.  How did the competition go?  It's great experience for Enzo.

Hello BIRBA !!!!! ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D

I am so happy that you are back ..... I hope for good!!!  We missed you ... especially the potential of your comments to the recital pieces Enzo had last June 30 ... the pieces I PMed you about.  I know you became disgusted about that hoax perpetrated by the Lady Pianist character which I feel recently came back as KellyC .... which I feel again she/he will be back soon.  KellyC was beginning again to get the center of attention until she was exposed.  Oh well I am one genuinely happy guy with your return and as they say "you made my day" in a very positive way.

I am surprised why you can't listen to the downloaded mp3 file ...... I am uploading the file in Youtube now and will link it soon here so that you may be able to access it.  But my internet is so slow and it will take maybe over an hour to finish the upload.....but I really hope you can advice us on this piece.  Enzo won 2nd place ... oh well, maybe better luck next time.

Again .... I am really GLAD you are back!!!!

Thanks Margherita !!!! ;D :)   for that wonderful encouragement and I am glad that you have finally discovered this beautiful concerto by the French composer Camille Saint-Saens.  I will be posting the 2nd and 3rd movements in the next few days.

It is a good day...BIRBA has returned and once you get to know him you will understand why we seem so happy.  He is a major asset here and a fine teacher.  Thanks again!! :)

Enzo, that was very fine playing, indeed.  There were moments when your playing was ageless!  Such breadth and respiro.  Too bad the pianos were in dire need of tuning. You are maturing and growing in musical stature.  Keep it up!

Hi Enzo,

Bravo!  Congratulations on your very fine performance.  I really enjoyed listening.  Despite your young years, there is a deeper understanding and a mature sound in your playing of this concerto.  You play it in a convincing manner and do a fine service to the memory of the composer.

David

P.S. Great to see birba back too!
