Help choosing concert to attend
on: December 11, 2011, 12:44:44 AM
Hi everyone.

I am going to attend my first piano concert next year. The problem is I can't decide which performance to attend  :P The performers and their repertoires are:

Lang Lang: Bach's Partita No. 1 in Eb, Schubert's Sonata in Eb D. 960, Chopin's Twelve Etudes Op. 25

Evgeny Kissin: Schubert's Sonata in Eb D. 568, Beethoven's 32 Variations in C minor, Brahms' Six pieces for piano, Op. 118, Chopin's Andante spianato et grand polonaise brillante, Op. 22

Andras Schiff: Beethoven's Sonata No 30 in E major, Op. 109
Bela Bartók: Sonata (1926)
Leos Janácek: Sonata (1905)
Franz Schubert: Sonata in G major, D. 894

Arcadi Volodos: Franz Schubert: Sonata for piano in A minor, D 784
Johannes Brahms: Intermezzi Op. 117, Nos. 1-3
Franz Liszt: Sonata in B minor

I can only attend one of these concerts due to money problems  :'(, so I hope you can help me in choosing the best perfomer.

Thanks in advance  :)

I'd go for Volodos. No doubt that the Liszt Sonata will be titanic!

I vote for Volodos too. Forget Lang Lang....

Either Schiff or Volodos. DOn't risk Lang Lang. He's so unpredictable. Kissin: he's not too bad.

Are you kidding me??? If his concert was free... I still wouldn't go to it. I can just imagine how badly he's going to butcher the Chopin Etudes.

I would recommend the Volodos recital, I'm actually going to see that one myself.

P.S. first post, yay!   ;D
