"virtual" competitions
on: September 10, 2004, 10:01:10 PM
Hi !

Just an idea: why not to organize Piano Forum Competitions ?

People would send their recording (audio and/or video) and ratings would be organized...

Levels (grade ?) should be taken into consideration of course !  ;D

That would be fun I think !

;)

Cheers,

In this idea there arent any problems, but there are a number of complications- We cant prove the recordings are our own, and how would we "send" it?  to NilsJohan's mailbox in Stockholm?

as for the judging panel.. I think we would get anyone to share their adjudication except for the performer.

We could have a panel of judges to select say, three winning entries (or whatever number) for the finals, then let everyone on the forum vote for the finalist they like best.  (I once recieved an email from someone who had started an MSN group called "Passion for Piano" which was supposed to do this but apparently the project fell through-- later on I could no longer find the web page.)

I don't know how we could do this. Where would we find the webspace to put all of the recordings onto? ? ?
We have hard enough time finding enough space to link a picture, let alone fifty recordings...

Well, I have infinite webspace...  ;)

But I wouldn't randomly host anything anybody wanted to put online. If it's for a PF competition, however, I'd be willing to host!

Or why not to let each individual who wishes to participate host his video(s) on his own website and just communicate the link to PF so that everybody can see ?

Most Internet Services Providers allow to easily and freely create a personnal website...

What about other variables...like what format and what mike you're using?

These are the technical stuff...that keeps changing rather than based on just the competitors themselves.

You know, like in a normal competition, everyone plays on the same piano in the same room...

I wanna try still...but maybe not competitively..oh what the heck I'm in.

I just don't have the "good" quality equipment.
