How do you get new students?
on: December 31, 2011, 11:02:57 PM
Hi there --
Happy New Year!  I have a home studio of about 40 students, and have doubled in size in the last year.  I have used a variety of methods to reach new potential students, many of which are detailed in www.musicacademysuccess.com.  I'm excited about how well they have worked!  I am curious, how do you reach potential clients?  What is working best for you, especially with the economy?  I want to get quality students, not just ones looking for a bargain.  I have been really blessed by great students this past year, but am always looking to learn.  Any ideas?
Thanks!
Karen :)

You just can't expect some quality student to pop up at your studio. Some quality students  start out just like any other people but you have to know how to teach them. Maybe you can get students who are somewhere between 5-8 th grade standards and start teaching them.

Funny? How? How am I funny?

Looks like spam to me.

If you want a lot of students, set your rates low and advertise.

If you want to specialize in quality students, set your rates very high, take students only by audition, win a lot of competitions, exhibit your top students in public as often as possible, earn a reputation as the top teacher in your area, and regardless of the economy the parents who think they have a prodigy will flock to you.  Word of mouth will do it, probably don't even need a listed phone number.
