m1469 was making an index of the forum at one point.  That's an insane amount of work though really.

Google search could work.  There's an advanced search feature that allows you to just search one website.

Otherwise I'm thinking it's just people who are keeping old threads alive by reminding people about them.  Or else the user would have to search themself and find those threads.
