edit. sorry figured this was the better way to put my remarks, separately from the viddy link:
happy new year everyone, so i was very apprehensive to post this mainly due to my own silly insecurities about a several aspects of my performance i was very unhappy with (a couple of arpegio baubles one two small ensemble issues where i got excited and got slightly off with the conductor but quickly corrected and got back on).

this was my very first time working with a conductor and ensemble (i.e. non chamber/larger group) and was mainly a project we took on a learning experience as a whole, still aside from nerves and my own pitty party over parts i felt were not as effective as i would have liked, i have learned to realize that the reception as a whole was very very positive both from the group musicians, general audience (and musicians in the audience including some of the music faculty).

this arragnemet as the video and remarks after the applause will end is unique in that i was working with a wind ensemble vs the normal orchestra we had some challenges with this as some of the instruements can only play so soft and still produce a good sound so balance was the main thing to overcome.  we had only three quick rehearsals to put this together so i felt that all of this in place and the fact that i was taking exams that week, well it was a crazy time that is for sure.

sorry for the lengthy remarks but being that i am still nervous about anyone seeing this, it helps me more than anything. thanks for watching!

This concerto is mentioned in a very strange way in a book by the Italian writer Curzio Malaparte. The book is called The Skin (written right after WWII). It sort of makes fun of the Americans not distinguishing between Chopin and Addinsell... (no mention of Rachmaninov)

Really good experience for you!  The ensemble was very loud - I think you did a good job of being musical at all times - some may have been tempted to battle harder and bang! I liked the way you brought out the counter melodies, as well as the main themes. Well done.
When a search is in progress, something will be found.

thank you so much for the kind comment! :)

i am also glad (and a bit surprised) that you picked up on my restraint in trying to ensure I didn't 'bang' on the piano (to get a harsh sound), this  was something we were focusing on in the weeks preceding the performance in my lessons.

again thank you for taking the time to view and to comment.
