Gilels playing Don Giovanni

This is THE greatest(in my opinion) recording of Liszt's reminisces of don giovanni.

I've been listening to Busoni's for a while before and technically impresive as it is....Gilels really dominates this work from beginning till end. He doesn't go as fast as possible in the final presto (although still extremely fast), and its beautiful to listen too.  The last 2 times I've listned to it (today and yesterdaty)..i have openly said "WOW" out loud to myself at the end.

Gilels really is the greatest pianist of the twentieth century.  ;)

I recommend you all to listen to it without reading along with the score. Or read along with teh score it doesn't matter.

your friend,
Rob

any other recordings you would recommend? I heard Lang Lang...kind of reminded me of Busoni.

When is the Gilels recording from?  Barere's is also quite amazing.

What do you mean by this? Busoni didn't record the work, unless there is a piano roll. I haven't ever heard of one.

Cool I'll have to check out Barere adn Ginsburg, haven't heard either.

As for when the Gilels was recorded I'm sorry I dont know! I can ask my friend who gave me the CD he'll probably know.

Ya it's a piano roll off the "Ferrucio Busoni plays Franz Liszt" CD.
