Faure, opus 17, no 3
on: January 08, 2012, 03:45:18 AM
I was wondering if anyone knows what grade level these two pieces are:
Faure opus 17, no 3. It is one of his songs without words and
Ilynsky, Berceuse, opus 13, no 7.
I have listened to them and find them both to be quite beautiful.
Thanks.

I have a recording and a score for the Ilyinsky piece. I can put the score on here if you like but you will have to tell me how to as I haven't uploaded music before.
The piece is only 1 min 40 secs long ( if it is the same one that you have heard ) and is in G flat major. You will be able to judge the grade for yourself when you see the score.

Thanks Casioman,
I do not know how to put the score up either. However, I have since obtained a book with both of the pieces. The book is from the Trinity Repertoire library and says it is grades 5 to 7 so they should be okay.

Romance Sans Parole Op. 17 No. 3 by Gabriel Faure is a Grade 7 Piece.
Berceuse Op. 13 No. 7 by Alexander Ilynsky is listed as a Trinity Grade 6 Exam piece but I have seen it listed elsewhere as a Grade 7.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Joe,
Most of what I am playing now is Grade 5 or 6. I'll ask my teacher what he thinks. The grade 5 is the Bach inventions and the romantic pieces are grade 6.
