Attractive COMPOSERS!
on: January 08, 2012, 10:44:06 AM
Richard Barrett:

Iannis Xenakis:

George Antheil:

Nikos Skalkottas:

I'd say Kenji Sakai, but I probably just have a biased fetish for Asians.  I think this is going to be a pretty empty thread, considering those guys up there are the best I could come up with.  A lot of people say Berg was handsome, but to me he looks like a combination of Stephen Fry and Christopher Walken.

Franz Liszt, particularly this picture where he leans against a wall. NO doubt there will be more attractive composers than the ones you mentioned. ;D

I already posted this as an attractive pianist.  But seeing as we have a composer's thread, here it is again.

Birba: I think you need to upload the photo into Photobucket first, then when you click on the photo, you copy the direct link that shows up beside it, and that is the link you need to insert between the two img things:

Merci pour l'invitation, mais I think that it would be especially inappropriate for me knowingly to make an off-topic post here, especially since I had urged only hours ago against the initiation of this thread!

However, now that the thread is in existence, why doesn't someone post a picture of Busoni or of his young and once even more photogenic French friend Varèse?...

he's probably the most important figure in tango (practically a national hero in argentina).  most people are at least familiar with this little piece, 'por una cabeza' as featured in "schindler's list" and also here in "scent of a woman,"

it's a cool piece, it's about a horse race :D but this doesn't have the vocals just the strings and piano, i have a solo version of this that is quite nice i'll try and learn it soon and upload to the audition room:

here he sings one of his own, the man had a voice!

Yes, if too little. You might want to visit the Altarus Records website.

To return to the topic, I'd say JSBach, but then, I do not care how composers look(ed)!

All best,

On the other hand, someone's remark at the time (neatly paraphrasing the old cliché about American GIs during WWII), "overweight, underplayed and over here" seemed just about right at the time, I'd say - and, as might be expected, age has done little to improve any of those situations in the 23½ years since the photograph was taken...

I'd not describe John Ogdon as a hippy, though; perish the thought, indeed...

Hmmm, in history it was not like this. It was overpaid, oversexed and over here abviously refering to GIs based down under. You look pretty good with or without the glass. I like your hairstyle.

Alistair you look cool!  8)  :)
Well thank you indeed, littletune and birba - for the compliments, but I do rather think that the shirt seems as though it was trying to escape from its wearer (perhaps with good reason) and the the jacket had somehow suddenly decided that it no longer wanted to look as though it had any business to fit said wearer, but...

Ah, well. All a long time ago. For my part, what matters to me is what people might get out of listening to what I've done rather than what I might or might not look like or have looked like, actually. Far more importantly still, if only John Ogdon was still with us! - he'd have attained the age of just 75 later this month...

Well, looks like this thread was killed by a nearly 30 year old picture of Alistair Hinton. It seems counter-intuitive to use pictures of composers that are very old, rather than using recent ones, if they are still alive, that is.

What makes you think it was killed?! and 23 years isn't nearly 30 years!!!  ::) cause then that would mean I'm nearly 20 years old!  ::)  ::) and what does counter-intuitive mean anyway? and why would there be someting wrong with posting old pictures?  :-\   ::) oh whatever...  ::)

I think we've crossed the line here...(regarding Ms. Chopra's "assets")
As far as Retrouvailles comment goes, I think he (she?) is being too much of a stickler in his observations.  This thread is for fun, isn't it?  I would guess Alistair isn't very "simpatico" to him (her).  at any rate, "counter-intuitive"  just doesn't fit in that statement.  I mean I know what the word means, but I don't understand it in that context.
