You wouldn't happen to have a picture of the so-called "butterfly" grand? I think steinway made it. It opened from underneath as well as above creating a greater sonority. I never heard it. I think it was played at carnegie hall awhile back. Then it fell into oblivion, I guess.
i don't have a pic on my computer but i'll try and find one. i'm intrigued, the big americans all used make 'butterfly'grands a while back, mason and hamlin, wurlitzer, i think knabe and the like, wouldn't surprice me that ss played in that sandbox too. i'm intrigued, off to the hunt.

these are so nice, i have played on a few (three or four) and they were all exceptional! (none had a sticker prise under 100k-120K US dollars though...
