I've been hankering to upgrade from a 61-key non-weighted-key keyboard to a keyboard/digital piano with 88 weighted keys. I'd like to buy locally (so I can sit and play at it before buying), but will go to online if necessary. I'd rather not breach $1,000 [I know that limits my options, but bear with me], and live in an apartment (which rules out real, floor-reverberating pianos).

What I'd like to know when shopping for this is: Should I consider certain brands? What are some qualities to look for in a decent digital piano/keyboard? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Found a Williams for $500 (after coupon code) that seems to be what I'm looking for.

Don't buy the Williams.  They're JUNK.
In this price range, go for the Casio.

Indeed, I have over a month to return it if it does end up being really bad. However, I am but a fledgling pianist, and am not terribly picky about a lot of things. If they keys work right and the sound is decent (headphones or otherwise), then I'll be golden.

That seems like a very low price for all that. Returning it may be quite a challenge. I checked their prices on another item I am interested in and they are no cheaper than my local Guitar Center where I can try the item out live.
