Wow that is asking a lot!  15! If you said 3 -well maybe -now someone may want to prove me wrong - who knows?

I love them all, for what it's worth - Though the fugue in the Hammerklavier can be heavy going.
When a search is in progress, something will be found.

Favourite 15??  Why not just ask if there are any we don't like.  I personally like them all, for different reasons; the order of preference would change with my mood.  Any list of my favourite 15 now would annoy me after lunch as being completely wrong.

Bite your tongue! :o  I love a good fugue.  ;D

I don't have time right now to list 15 of my favorites, so I'll just name a few:

Sonata no. 6 op. 10 no. 2  (1st movement)
Sonata no. 2 op. 2 no. 2 (1st movement)
Sonata no. 23 op. 57 *Appassionata* (3rd movement)
Sonata no. 32 op. 111 (1st movement)
Sonata no. 19 op. 49 no. 1 (1st movement)

Honestly, I really like all of the Beethoven Sonatas that I've heard, (which is about all of them. I still have a few more to listen to though) so it is a bit difficult for me to narrow down my favorites.

I share the view of many others that all of Beethoven's sonatas are great, and it's difficult to rank.  I personally think that those sonatas written in minor keys could strike people more.  (His E flat major ones are strong, too.)  Probably (and especially?) C minor and F minor have their own innate nature/power to magnify our emotions.
