Boosey and Hawkes, Hal Leonard
on: January 24, 2012, 11:36:09 PM
I just wanted to give a wholehearted and sincere compliment to how these fine companies recently handled a request of mine. I was researching a couple of scores and needed confirmation that a version offered in a compilation album of various works by a composer was the same as the single version of the same piece.  My request was not only handled and answered quickly, but since Hal Leonard handles distribution of the scores in USA, the classical editor for Hal Leonard contacted me directly multiple times, once to aknowledge that they had the request and to assure me it was being researched and looked into, then again shortly thereafter with a reply and answers to my question. With their info I can now make an very informed purchase decision.

I simply want folks here to know that if and where you can purchase a B&H or HL product you should feel good about supporting a fine business and the fine people that work there.

Glad to hear they helped you out.

I've asked some local music dealers to find scores for me.  At times it can take a lengthy time for them to find the items: sometimes 6-8 weeks.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

Hal Leonard deals with Schirmer's editions as well, right?
Beethoven - Sonata in C sharp minor, Op 27 No 12
Chopin - Fantasie Impromptu, Nocturn in C sharp minor, Op post
Brahms - Op 118, Nos 2 & 3

I have had some pleasing transactions with Boosey. They are one of the best.

Some music publishers are ignorant wankers.

hmm you might need to email either Schirmer or HL on that one, i'm just not up to date on who else they help distribute.  iim espeically not privy due to my overall dislike for  schirmer since i pretty much would rather wipe my fanny with their editions than play them (except when they're the only thing available like for some modern composers like my kabalvesky sonatas, that one is actually pretty good).
