Hi there,

Hello to all.

I am new to this so please bear with me :)

I have recorded my first decent length video, which i have posted to youtube and would like to share it with the community.

I understand a lot of people on here may not be so interested in piano playing of popular music (There are a small selection of older pieces) from the last 50 years, but as i see there are some other contemporary popular posts i thought i would share the video :)

Really just enjoyed researching and learning short pieces from some of the most famous contemporary pop piano players from the last 50 years and putting it all together.

I am self taught, and whilst i will never be the greatest technically, i enjoy playing so much and sharing my music with others- Which i think is what it should be all about.

Hopefully the video will help inspire players that are just taking up the instrument; i would have loved a YouTube when i was learning.

If, because it is not of the style that is befitting of the forum then please accept my apologises; however as there are not many piano forums i would really appreciate any advice about where else i may be able to post the video, in a similar type of forum.

Anyway, hope you enjoy the video, and any advice on other forums etc would be greatly appreciated :)

The piece was recorded last week, on a Digital piano Yamaha DGX 640, using various settings by me. I recorded the audio on to the computer for better quality and used the video from my phone. Unfortunately at some points the video goes out of sync but this wont detract from the audio :) The video is comprised of over 80 different composers, mainly from contemporary pop.

Must commend you for your efforts .... not an easy task to think of representative pop music of the various decades and the mini-eras in between. Most of the tunes I recognize and instinctively stimulated again the beat in me!!

May I make a bold suggestion though even if I do not play the piano.  A good number of composers  would "tie" together seamlessly several different tunes with an "interphase" melody. What you did were pieces strung together without any unifying transition melody or beat.  With a transition melody the whole project would have probably sounded more cohesive, more imaginative and more innovative.

Maybe a single transition tune may be impossible to develop so that several transition tunes would be acceptable .... and maybe to be more cohesive you may have to chose music of similar rhythms/beat to represent periods.  Oh well just my crude idea on your project.

It is not that a lot here do not like popular music .... I feel most here are pianists whose orientation to music is just different .....  yes just different rather than disliking.

Thats a great idea- may be streching the limits of my talents though!

Would may it follow alot better, and i guess i could do it with alot of practice!

Maybe even grouping them in to "Keys" would be a good idea, so its a little more musical ?

What do you think?

Also i have noticed that the video is too long , so i think i may break it up in to 10 smaller videos Makes more sense

Would love to do a 100 Classical pieces, taking the most well known parts from the most popular piano works of the last 450 years or so.

Some fantastic pieces in there. Or even better - we could take lots of members playing a piece each and i could take a few seconds of each and make a good video

What other classics could we use?
