Hi there, I was wondering, what are you favourite suites and symphonic poems (other than Scheherazade, Peter and the Wolf, the Planets, Pictures at an Exhibition) arranged for solo piano (or even created for orchestra)? Also what are your favourite pieces based on literature (generally speaking)?

Actually, Pictures at an Exhibition were orchestrated rather than transcribed for piano.

My favourites are Saint-Saens' Danse Macabre, Ravel's La Valse and Sibelius' Finlandia.

Best regards, Dr

Sibelius' Finlandia. I actually prefer this to the orchestral version. Also Petrushka Movements and the Firebird Suite.

this is a good realization for piano from a symphonic work, i like that korsikov did the editing.
