Pieces that you hated (but love them right now)
on: February 15, 2012, 11:49:00 AM
WHat are some pieces that you use to loathe but like right now?

P.s. I'm also creating the opposite thread (pieces that you liked but hate them right now) ;D

Sibelius in general would be my most dramatic 180.
Haydn: Sonata in C No. 35
Scarlatti: K. 1, 380, 443
Blasco de Nebra: Sonata V
Handel: Fantasia in C G.60
Couperin: La Reville Matin
Rameau: La Dauphine
Pachelbel, Trabaci, Frescobaldi: Various

The Weinen, Klagen, Sorgen, Zagen variations by Liszt. I went from considering it to be a flat out annoying and empty piece to a true masterpiece and one of the most impressive works in the solo piano repertoire.

i used to not care for the scarlatti sonatas at all, they are as a whole starting to grow on my more and more.

same with cpe bach piano works, quickly becoming my favorite baroque composer, the sonatas are great!

I can only think of a few works omplete WTC, Chopin's Funeral march form sonata in b flat minor and Chopin's Barcarolle. I might also add Rachmaninoff's 3rd. When I first heard it I jsut couldn't fathom how it could compare with Rachmaninoff's 2nd PC but now probably among the pinnacle of piano concerti. Now to think of it, it is twice as good as Rach's 2nd PC.
