Want to Buy a New Digital/Stage Piano, need help!
on: February 22, 2012, 10:02:01 PM
Hello everyone, I´m new here :-)
I do not know anything about music, nothing at all. Always wanted to learn the piano music in particular. I will sign up for a school and buy a digital piano. My money range is around 1000 euros. I want the digital piano to learn music that they will be teaching me at the music school. I´m going to learn classical music first, and probably jazz too.
Looking for a reliable digital piano, that accompany me on my route (for several years, if all goes well ...). A piano that enables learning from my state of beginner to advanced (I hope to get there ...) (I am no longer very young, I have 33 years :-/).
Professionals pianos are very expensive, I do not want the high end piano, but piano with a good quality-price ratio, allowing the mentioned above.
I don´t have much money to spend, on the contrary, but I prefer to make a sacrifice and buy a quality piano from the start, than had to buy another in the medium term because the first does not allow my study. I want a piano for many many years.
I am facing the Yamaha:
Yamaha P95 (549 euros), from what I read on the forum seems to be a good buy, but everywhere I read it is for beginners, which leaves me with reservations.
YAMAHA CP33 (1090 euros) worth the price difference compared to the P95?
YAMAHA P155 B (1279 euros), it escapes my budget :-(, for what I'm reading in several places looks good ... but ... I think its very very ugly that part that imitates wood :-/ / / /
Yamaha CP50, I really like this one, but it is very expensive :-( I´m drooling for this one ...
Current Status:
I was leaning towards the Yamaha P155, although i don´t like the "wood effect" on top of the keyboard, even in black!
I think i´m going to buy the CP33... I don´t know i need help :-/
I love the CP50 .... but is too expensive for me...
Can you help me?
Thank you,
Great forum, continue :-)

Buy the CP33 and don't look back. It has Yamaha's higher end GH action (much better than the P95) and is totally worth the extra money. The P155 is not significantly better, so I wouldn't stretch for it.
The CP33 is getting a bit old, but it's kind of a classic. Proven quality.

Yes its old, but now for me is the CP33 or the CP50. Unfortunately the CP50 is too expensive
, so I think I will buy the CP33
.
...
Well I change my mind again, because the keys are identical in CP33 and in P155, but the P155 has 4 sampling layers and the CP33 have only 3... so the sound is better in P155...
Help, I don´t know what to do..... the CP50 is too expensive and I think the P155 is ugly
Thank you for the reply

Go with the P95. When and if your playing and your discrimination of sound arrive at a point where YOU can tell the difference, then move on up. Yes, the spec sheets point to differences but they may not be felt or heard by YOU.
I have the older version of the P95 and if I do move up it will be a BIG jump to more than $5000. Right now the sound coming through my Bose noise-cancelling ear phones (worth half as much as my keyboard) is superb.

I think I´m "In Love" fo the CP50... I´m looking for the best price for it
. I found one store near me (Portugal) that sells this piano for 1470 euros, what do you think? Its a good price?
Thank you

Very difficult to say if it's a good price because prices vary dramatically across borders. In another forum someone was just telling me that you can get Yamaha Arius (console-style) pianos with the same features as slab style pianos like the CP33 and CP50 for lower prices in the UK. It might be the same in Portugal.
I can tell you that in the US the CP50 goes for $1700, which is 1271 euro. Normally digital pianos are much more expensive in Europe, so I'd say there's a good chance that $1470 is a good local price.

Seems like a good price at a store. CP50 is priced over 1500euros even in the cheaper internet stores in Europe.

There are some online stores in Spain. Maybe that might work.
