Bach WTC arr. for strings?
on: February 27, 2012, 04:57:18 PM
I've seen some recordings of the inventions and sinfonias for strings, does anyone know if there's been any recordings with strings of the WTC?

thanks

I'd have thunk it rather defeated the purpose (perhaps alone amongst Bach's works).

That said, Mozart did a string arrangement of the Book 2 Fugues (K405).

EA Forster did an arrangement as well, The Emerson Quartet have a recording available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Bach-Fugues-Emerson-String-Quartet/dp/B0011WMWV6

There are also a few on Youtube as well.

I have a self-bootlegged recording of the Emerson String Quartet doing Bach's Fugue in E Major (from WTC Bk. II) BWV. 878 as an encore, but that's all I know of for now...

Would you like to hear it? :)
