slightly 'informal' work - in -  progress performance for a masterclass I was selected for.  I still have a bit of time to let the piece  settle into itself some more, increase tempo slightly in spots, and incorporate the clinician's technical and musical/intepretive guidance and suggestions. I hope to repost the more polished work some time later this year.

musicology and performance background information will be contained in the video description if you click into the video on both YouTube and Vimeo.

What a nice set of Variations! It's work in progress, sure, but in very good progress! I think this music fits you very well and you capture the spirit!

wow that's such a huge compliment (especially with your background and experience with Beethoven)! thank you so much, this piece has given me an incredible amount of frustration (and equal rewards).  the clinician even made it a point to mention how the difficulty in this piece lies in it's simplicity, how do you make something so seemingly uncomplicated into a musical experience, and  how do we execute tehcnically  such an unassuming thin texture with ease so that it doesn't lose its sense of playful innocence...i think i'm almost there if i can really let simmer on low heat for the next 4 weeks i want to perform a completed rendition in early may.

Thank you again so much for the time you took to view it (i know with all repeats its a bit loner video but hopefully it kept you enganged and interested long enough to enjoy those 9 or so minutes  :D)

Wow, Enrique, I enjoyed immensely your interpretation!!!!
Wolfi is so right: you really captured the spirit of the piece, the nuances of every variation.
I’m sincerely impressed....you undervaluate yourself saying that’s a work in progress. IMO it’s already at a performance level, and a very high one!!!!
I join the applauding audience: in fact, I’m clapping so long and so hard that  my hands hurt, and as a true Italian I shout out loudly: BRAVO BRAVO BRAVOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!  :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

wow i'm a bit taken back, i really didn't expect that, thank you, i can use that as motivation that once i implement what i learned in the class/what was suggesed i do more of/less of, etc. it will be that much better.

as for your clapping,my sincerest thanks, i am genuinely glad you enjoyed them, its nice to know so many hours of work can bring enjoyment to someone.

.. why does your applause description bring to mind rowdy italian soccer/football cheers lol, are you in this crowd somewhere?

That was fantastic, Enrique!  I enjoyed your "informal"  ;D  performance immensely!  What an absolutely lovely set of variations.  You performed it so beautifully.  It had such uplifting, cheerful moments and such dark, foreboding ones.  You told me you weren't a concert pianist but you sure looked like one here.  Thanks for posting it.  It was also good to see how you looked like!  :)

That was truly awesome!  I downloaded this also -because for me it captures the essence of the piano -why I decided to learn to play -ok, I will never get to this level -but it's good to know that if I keep working at it, it may be possible.
When a search is in progress, something will be found.

@ candlelightpiano, you're so very kind and i'm super flattered to think someone thinks i could 'concertise', i am still working to give each variation a distinct charcter, but i am glad certain aspects are already showing through.

@ i'm glad you found it motivating, but don't self limit yourself, we are all working to progress (most of the time i'm preety disgusted with my playing, and about the best compliment i have ever gotten out of my current professory is a rare 'that is starting to sound pretty decent' or two....), which is all we can achieve, since 'perfection' is really unattainable in many regards (or all regards...).  yeah i normally don't turn that function on (one of the reasons i like vimeo better controls) you can download videos if the user has given those privileges. overall i like it so much more than yt.
