The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

In the pantheon of French music, Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) often seems a paradox—an innovator cloaked in restraint, a Romantic by birth who shaped the contours of modern French music with quiet insistence. Piano Street now provides sheet music for his complete piano works: a body of music that resists spectacle, even as it brims with invention and brilliance. Read more

Intermediate small piano works (Sketch Music)
on: April 09, 2012, 06:42:11 AM
Some may have seen these in other forums, but there's always the chance of people visiting this forum alone, so...

A few months ago I composed a series of 21 small works for piano, some easier than others. They got published, including some lovely B&W illustrations from a great artist named Piero Pierini and in more recent times I did a couple of youtube videos, with me playing (on my digital piano and samples... But no editing took place). Thus I'm bringing you the two youtube videos for you to enjoy.

From what I've been told, for younger students these work quite well, even for recital opportunities (especially since they are brand new and thus not many people know about them), but I'm waiting for a couple of students to perform the whole set (which lasts around 22 minutes in total) in the summer. This should prove fun (especially for a very nervous me, who will be waiting to see the reactions for all the works, brrr...)

Enjoy,

Nikolas
