Video - Scriabin Etude Op8 No1 & 12
on: April 24, 2012, 07:43:18 AM
My own recording of Scriabin Etude Op8 No1 & 12. The only thing left is knowing how to effectively use rubato without disruptions.

Etude Op8 No1

Etude Op8 No12

0:45 - 1:05 Still lacks the warmth needed to meet demands.

I've got Op8 No2,3,5 as well and at this point not ready to post it yet.

Enjoy and all comments welcome.

I have a feeling everything comes so easily to you.  Almost too easy!  You whip out those preludes like you were picking cherries.  I'm not saying they're superficial, but it's like "Oh, I think I'll play through a couple of scriabin etudes."  It might be the shallow sonority of the piano.  But I envy your facility, that's for sure.
I'm just curious at 50" in the second prelude, do you play a d natural?  I only ask that because I've been working on the same piece.  And it didn't look like a slip.  The left hand is so subdued you don't really hear it.  If you facilitate the left hand, though, I think you should at least give those out-of-reach notes a little more intention.

Yes I do play d natural in that descending A major scale, then following that is a c natural. It's actually written on the music, otherwise I would've stuck to the E and A. I've played through 8/12 with a metronome at 112 per crotchet, though I don't play at this speed in performance.

I'm talking about m. 21.  Second beat, r.h. d-sharp, left hand should play d-sharp as well, no?

It's definitely D# in both left and right hands.

It's an E major scale, and I got that. As for the left hand, that was meant to be a D#. It would've been a "clean getaway" otherwise.  ;D
