Apart from Bolcom, you appear to be correct.

I find it more understandable than depressing, as being the Student thread, do we not within reasonable parameters tread the same path before reaching the crossroads and deciding which way to go???
I'm not sure what you're implying here, but the problem as I see it is that what most people here seem to be spending most if not all of their practice time in learning is all too strongly suggestive of a kind of tacit acceptance that music is - or is becoming - a kind of museum-piece activity, which is hardly a great idea, is it? - not to mention that its widespread existence would surely be intensely discouraging to living composers, especially student ones...

Nicccccceee... I love Op. 69. No.1 and No.2, it's something I'll be learning next. :]

I'm wondering why Chopin wanted it burnt as a death wish though. :\

Grieg is on hold for the moment...I almost finished the 1st mvt but I start to have too much tension in my right wrist everytime i go through it at full speed because of those huge chords and it aches alot afterwards. Will bring it back sometime. Going to learn Chopin Rondeau de Concert/Mendelssohn Rondo Brilliant 1st
Will be doing exercises to stretch my hand and practicing solid chords again(by playing the 1st note then playing the other 3 chords note together)

Hi Martin:

I'm working on Chopin's Fantasie Impromptu in C# minor at this time and I started a blog for it. I hope you'll take a look and comment:

https://projectfantasie.blogspot.com/

Perhaps you'll join me and play along! Look forward to seeing you on my blog.

Started a project with a friend where we give each other homework between weeks to create those beautiful short-term goals and deadlines that you have when you are taking lessons. And started on Bach's BWV 114 today. I'm also working on Mvt. II of Beethoven's Pathétique.
My current to-do list:
* Yann Tiersen
~ La Valse d'Amélie
* Beethoven
~ "Pathétique" II. Adagio
* Petzold
Menuet in G minor (BWV 115)
* Satie
- Gymnopédie No. 3

Right now I'm just working on Beethoven Sonata in F Minor, Op. 2 No. 1, as something interesting to do while I am deciding on what difficult project to take on next.

Scales and studies.

Seriously, they need practice.  :-[ Especially the octave scales and chords and both of my studies. :-X

Other than that, I am working like mad practising my Bach Prelude and Fugue in E flat... and some Christmas music :) That means ignoring my sonata, two Chopin nocturnes, and a Muczynski prelude, as much as I love them. :( I just can't cram so many pieces into a week's practice, and they're hanging there over my head like giant boulders... I'd really like to know the strategy for learning multiple pieces at once..

The newest things I work on (kind of my "new repertoire") is:

Brahms rhapsody op 79. no. 1 in b minor
Stenhammar (a swedish composer) fantasie op. 11 no. 1 in b minor
Chopin etude op. 25 no.2 (I've worked on that for a while, but I've taken a break from it)
Moskowsky etude in g minor (no.2 or something?). Same thing as for the chopin etude..
Back italian concert in F major
Beethoven 12 variations on "Das Waldmädchen" (almost finished)

Besides that I have a 30 minutes program of pieces (fantasie impromptu by Chopin, prelude in c sharp minor by Rachmaninoff, Clair de Lune by Debussy, Frühlingsrauschen by Sinding and nocturne in b flat minor by Chopin) that I'm keeping alive.

I'm a full time student (natural science with a focus on computer science, programming). I have like no time left for friends and stuff  ;D.
