Piece that expresses anger.... Help anyone?
on: May 09, 2012, 07:30:12 PM
I need a piece of difficult execution (level 8 or above) that expresses rage and anger, I wanna be driven to madness. Anyone knows a good one?

Thanks

this one too, 'madness' is an apt term, but yes anger too a somewhat (only slight) lesser degree

Rachmaninoff Etude-Tableaux 39/1 in C Minor

You wanted difficult n_n A little section of it seems to get less 'angry' (around 1min in) but after a little bit it goes right back to the first mood presented.
Currently learning -

- Bach: P&F in F Minor (WTC 2)
- Chopin: Etude, Op. 25, No. 5
- Beethoven: Sonata, Op. 31, No. 3
- Scriabin: Two Poems, Op. 32
- Debussy: Prelude Bk II No. 3

As pointed out above, Chopin 10/12 expresses a lot of anger.  Also 25/10.  Rach 39/6.  The Alkan etude in Eb minor.  Scarlatti K. 175.

Not wholly sure the pianist read the title, though.

Prokofiev's three "war" sonatas - numbers 6, 7 and 8. You will go far to find anything more ferocious. :-)
