Piaeces inspired by broken hearts
on: May 13, 2012, 07:48:26 PM
Hello

I'm looking for pieces inspired by broken hearts.
What can you suggest?

Thanks.

The masterpiece tell the performer what to do, and not the performer telling the piece what it should be like, or the cocomposer what he ought to have composed.

how about the heartwrenchingly beautiful pas de deux from the nutcracker? i know, what? that's christmas music, but i've come across several iteration of a backstory that told that Tchaikovsky's sister had died shortly before he began composition of the ballet, and that his sister's death influenced him to compose a melancholy, descending scale melody for the adagio of the Grand Pas de Deux.

i prefer the original taneyev transcription myself since i like the original orchestration lines and this one under the wrong hands will turn into a muddy mess, but whe it goes right, man does it ever go right!
