What Level would I be?
on: June 21, 2012, 11:46:02 AM
Hello everyone one my name is beautyandgrace and I am a 14 year old piano student who will have been playing piano for 8 years in a couple of months! I was looking at the sheet music and noticed they have levels. I have no Idea what level I would be in so i hoped you guys could help me out here is a list of my notable pieces played or working on currently or within the last year.

Clair de Lune, moonlight sonata first movement, minute waltz, Nocturne in C sharp minor (chopin). And many other but those are the most notable that everyone will know! I also have a VERY fast solfeggietto(just for fun). I am looking to challenge myself but as I am currently not in lessons(though I have been for many years) It needs to be something I can learn on my own.

So if you could give me an approximate level that would be very much appreciated. Also for learning most of those songs on my own am I keeping up  I would love to go into music in school am I doing alright? I try my best without a teacher and am EXTREMELY dedicated!

note: I learned moonlight sonata, minute waltz and Nocturne in C sharp minor on my own.

Thanks
beautyandgrace

What Level would I be?

Hi, beautyandgrace, a.k.a. graceandbeauty!

It's hard to say without hearing you play. It's not WHAT you play, but HOW you play it. Could you post something or give us a link to a clip of you playing?

Sorry about the name when I was creating a username I accidentally got it mixed up it was meant to be beautyandgrace. I am afraid that for privacy reasons I will not be posting videos of me playing. That aside I can tell you that I have gotten superiors every year that I preformed in Sarasota youth federation. Superior is the highest mark. I was also approached by my teacher asking if this is what I am going to try to play piano professionally. My teacher Graduated at Oberlin with honors and taught as an adjunct professor teaching piano minors and flute majors for 20 years at Taylor University. My family is deeply involved in Music it has always been part of my life so I have grown up with an eye and and ear for music. That's about all I can tell you. I am not really trying to place myself in a level rather finding the level of music in which I can play.

Thank you for your time
