The rose is great -when I was little we were given a rose in a vase to draw by our teacher -mine was such a mess and more resembled an hamster than a flower -it even had whiskers -but I got discouraged by it and thought I was crap at art for a long time -now I paint better than Monet -only cos he is dead though -

This is a negative space drawing that I did when I was about 16/17.  You start with a black piece of paper, it's like an abyss, and everything else comes to life with a mere piece of white chalk.  It was my favorite project in the class (only painting and drawing).  I would like to take some art classes/lessons again ... sometime.

Ok, here is my free-flow thought while listening to Bach's Prelude and Fugue in C# Major, book I, BWV 848.  I decided I wouldn't draw even a dot while listening to a different piece (not even a different prelude and fugue) because I wanted this to be something I could observe as it relates to this particular prelude and fugue alone.  This is a different type of drawing for me, not just because it's a design vs. a subject, but because of the shapes themselves.  I got the idea to see what might come out while listening to different pieces in isolation, so I find it interesting that this one has so many lines and such a structure to it.  For now, I'm just kind of in observation mode with it, not judging.

Here is Mozart's Sonata in C Major, K. 330, 3rd movement only (though 4 different artists).  It's really difficult not to judge these!  But, my goal is singular in simply drawing exactly as these pieces inspire me subconsciously (kind of blurry, but there's not much detail to miss in this one).

OK, but what do you mean, exactly?  Do you mean you don't understand "the relation" between those drawings and the pieces I'm drawing to?  Or, you don't understand the techniques, etc..?

*geez* ... I watched a movie the other day about Jackson Pollock, an American painter who lived between 1912 and 1956 ... wow.  *lips forming the exaggerated shape* WoW.  That was a sobering movie about artists  .  Whatever you do in life, don't ever become Jackson Pollock ... WoW  .

No, because he's like "You're all stupid, I'm the only thing in life that matters!  I'm going to do whatever I want in life like throw tables over at Thanksgiving dinner and swear wildly at my wife, insult anybody in the room even if they're friends, drink HOARDS, and end up killing myself and an innocent young lady in a car accident where I was WAaaahhhaayyyyy too drunk to be driving (but drove anyway).  Half of my life I will be almost dead anyway because I just don't know how to live without somebody taking care of me every moment of my life!  Burp.  Bupity burp burp burp."  *points index finger in air*

hmm, well, it's tricky to explain but soon I will give an analogy.  First, I will say that it is not a concrete relation, in that I don't believe I would give the same drawing twice (I might, who knows?), or that I believe that's how everybody's drawing/image should go.  Now for the analogy:

(Oh, gosh ... *cringes*):

It's something like that, but clean and healthy   .  I just open my mind or so, listen to music, and then out of my pens and pencils comes what my brain and imagination are doing while "on" that music.  But, instead of a fried egg in a hot pan and such, it's an artwork!  OK?  Any questions?    Don't do drugs, do music  .
