Introducing Attack of the Piano
on: June 23, 2012, 04:49:24 PM
Good day Pianostreet !
I'm a novice piano player, i can play fur elise.
that is my masterpiece
, and some ballad but not too complicated pieces.
I'm also a computer programmer, and my thesis in college is about
Piano note transcription, I got an A for that project.
and now since everything is mobile, social media has taken over, and you can
bring literally bring your tools with you even a piano in mobile applications.
As technology flourishes, my love for piano playing still echoes.
so I built a mobile app for android, and IOS devices, so people can
bring some spare time fun whenever you are waiting in line, or just to kill the time.
so here it is my most current project.
"Attack of the piano", it's somewhat a piano game, with challenges. I made it
for novice and expert players, so the first levels might be very boring for expert piano players.
the later stages will be a challenge, given that the piano keys are in a mobile device.
this App is compatible for tablets and phones, that means all android, and IOS (Iphone, Itouch, Ipads), and nook tablet (still under review)
for now as of the moment its not yet released in apple, it's still under review, but
is available in amazon and android.
if you are interested to take a peek, you can download it for free!.
and if you find time to give a comment and rate the game, that would be very much appreciated
frankly i'm surprised on hard it is to get an audience for a mobile application,
that is why i'm here, and would like to press release somewhat the app.
thank you for reading
here is the link for

amazon:

youtube:
i wish i can post the links for iphone, and nook.
but the app is still in review at apple, and barnes and noble.
again, thank you.

Oh my..
Another person who has no idea about how to read music, let alone writing notes, trying to teach others...
sigh...

This has some SERIOUS flaws as far as being a valid teaching tool..
^to begin with...
..nothing against you're programming skills by the way - it looks very pretty and functional. Next time though, or even this time as a new version i strongly insist that you involve someone with a decent background in music generally as well as music education if you want to produce a product that is a good tool.

Any pianist with over 4 years of experience,if he actually tried to beat the game, his fingers would just go through the mobile no thanks I spent money on my mobile. ^^

Bulbiltz, firstly, nice artistic presentation and sound effect. I watched your video, one thing need to be fixed up especially you are targeting young and inexperinced player is the lower base stem line of the notes, it sholud be drawn on the LEFT side if pointing down

This has some SERIOUS flaws as far as being a valid teaching tool..
^to begin with..
Hi guys and girls,
I bought this game on my iPad and it seems really good. I am a beginner and learning to read sheet music and I drew up my own flash cards (took me ages) to practice recognising notes as quickly as possible. And then I came across this game and I'm up to about level 15 and I can honestly see a note now and instantly know what it is. When I was at level one I didn't know any of the notes unless I literally went from the bottom and said the "every good boy deserves fruit" "face" cows eating grass etc etc. Every time I perfect a level I move on to the next and it takes me a little while to be able to instantly recognise the new keys in that level.
My question.. There was quite a harsh reaction to the game in this thread. Is there more than one reasons for this or was it a bit of an over reaction to the line in the bass note being on the left side on the front page? Because the above post says this is the flaw "to begin with..". And that there are "serious flawS as far as being a valid teaching tool".
I genuinely want to know if this is a bad way to learn to recognise notes. Or if i am missing some other reason this game is not good for beginner pianists. And I will not be replacing time spent at the piano actually trying to read sheet music with this game. I'm just playing it when I'm not at the piano.
Thanks for any advice. So far I have really enjoyed my short time reading on the forum
