Does anyone else feel this is strange. Even in his early years I believe Scriabin's aesthetic was entirely his own. Of course there is a definite influence of the developing "Russian style", but I fail to see any connection between his juvenile works and any works of Chopin.
This sort of comparison is akin to the idiotic categorization of Ravel and Debussy as "Impressionists", to which Debussy replied, "I am trying to do 'something different'—an effect of reality...what the imbeciles call 'impressionism', a term which is as poorly used as possible, particularly by the critics, since they do not hesitate to apply it to Turner, the finest creator of mysterious effects in all the world of art."
Does anyone else feel this way?
