France?

I was wondering if anyone who lived or studied in France could tell me something about the conservatories there.  I hope to find a one year program where I can play and perform a lot to get experience and also play chamber music.  Is this even possible?  I already have my bachelors degree.  Oh, and my French is not completely fluent but I can understand a lot and communicate if people don't mind some mistakes (the verbs are HARD sometimes!) Is that good enough, or would I have to study some more first? Also, is it normal to have auditions only in the fall (it seems very late for me).  What if you come from international countries, and then don't get in?

i would be surprsied if something like that is not available over there. here in the US some programs offer 'certifcate' or "Artists's Diploma" 1 year programs, they are very intense and usually harder to get into and successfully complete than the master's programs offered along side them at the same schools but they can be a wonderful addition to your training. GOOD LUCK!

also, should it not quite work out as you'd like you should also consider maybe over a few summers getting into and participating in some the MANY fine summer music festival academies, these little 'mini-terms' are very intense  but you get exposed to so many fine fellow musicians and the instruction can come from the finest artists around. competition for some spots is fierce but it's a great option too.

Thanks for the responses and good wishes! 

However, I do not want to study in the United States because it is soooooo expensive there, and also I wanted to experience the culture of living in Europe.  Anyone have any thoughts on Europe in general?  Thanks a lot!
