strange quirks?
on: July 08, 2012, 10:11:52 PM
Do you have anything that is a must be when it comes to the piano. like glenn gould had to have a wooden chair at the same height all the time.

I don't really have anything like that but when it comes to practicing I can focus just fine and do my work. but when I have a black cherry snow cone I can focus and practice unabated for hours. Im not sure why the only reason I can think of is going back to old school band camp days, I would always get a snow cone then lock myself in a practice room.

I need the light on.

Better hope you don't go blind.

I believe horowitz needed a precise touch weight of 46g..

Personally I need sound to come out of the instrument, all keys functioning etc. etc.

When I'm done practicing, I always have to play page 45 of Rachmaninoff's third before I leave the bench.

OR in the event something tragic happens like almost cutting off my pinky, I finish with playing middle C at mezzo forte.

No one talk to me when I practice. I hate playing and having people come up and ask how my day is. Can't it wait?

I hate it when you're practicing then your mother asks you if you want something to eat.

Why do you keep asking me if I want something to eat?!  If I want something to eat, I'll get it myself!

Without fail, its been happening for months - I will go to the piano when my fiance goes to take a shower. 5 minutes later she will call me for no reason, or for a really crappy reason.

Yeah I don't have that problem. My only access to a piano right now is in the common room of the house I'm living in this summer do I have random friends and such always interrupting me.

Mom:  Are you hungry?

Me:  No

Mom:  Do you want me to make you a sandwich?

Me:  No

Mom:  Okay, the food is in the kitchen, go make yourself something

From what I've learned over the years.... Your mom is the one who wanted a sandwich.  She would eat some of the ingredient, but could take herself she wasn't eating the whole sandwich.  I had the exact same thing happen but with popcorn.  "You want some popcorn?"  "You sure?"  "Ok..."  *popcorn being made later on*
