Piano Street Urtext Print on Demand option?
on: July 16, 2012, 08:25:17 PM
It might not be an economicaly realistic option but would there ever be a possibility of having pianostreet team up with a book printer to offer high quality print on demeand options of bound single and multi work pieces for order?

i.e. similar to what Konemann did many years ago, give a good quality urtext score at a very  inexpensive price point?

probably not the best example as i think they went out of business before being relaunched i think (or at least repritned).

just a thought, though i can understand the strain the hard copy publishing deal is under, i don't see how they even make money at all these days but hey it might be a doeable thing for piano street if it was done 'on demand' since they won't have any capital tied up in printed but unsold books.

mm.. I find it just as easy to download the files and send them to a printer for 8c a page plus $3 to bind it.

The only thing that bothers me is that I can't download them in a bundle - everything has to be done one by one. AND, that the files are secured in a way that once downloaded I can't digitally bind them. Which means I have to do manual duplex printing when printing multiple files if I want a binded set of pieces. Which is horrible.

I'd really like to be able to open a single file that contains all of a set, rather than having PDF portfolios or individual pieces. Manually breaking the security is also pretty easy but so horribly time consuming that I don't bother, - I find it kind of annoying that PS doesn't just let me do it since it is possible without much effort, its just the amount of time it takes that makes it problematic.

I'm sure this is all to keep me paying for my gold membership..  But you know, I'd be happy to pay for the whole lot for a fixed fee..

..and sooner or later I'll probably end up writing a script to do the downloading for me to get around this.
