Digital Piano Australia

I live in Western Australia and I have been teaching myself piano for over a year now, there was an old upright at my last house (Some German piano can't remember the name) but since then I've moved into an apartment and I'm using a a 36 key YAMAHA keyboard with just plastic keys.

I am looking to buy a good quality digital piano with no bells and whistles, I'm willing to spend possibly up to $3,000 AUD.

At the moment I have very little knowledge on Digital Pianos other than what I have read through pages and pages of Piano forums.

I am unsure whether I will purchase a new piano or a second hand one through online advertisements.


Playing mainly classical, wanting a digital with similar feel to a real piano in terms of weighted keys sustain pedal etc


Needs to have:

-Pedals
-88 key
-Accurate weighted keys
-Headphone jack

I've been looking at Roland's digitals and they seem to be good quality.

Seems you're paying more for the case (polished ebony) than the workings.

You should be able to do much better and get a clavinova (yamaha, but a step or two up), a roland or a kawaii for your budget.

Thanks for pointing that out, wasn't aware the polished ebony would be more expensive.

I was thinking of a Roland digital or Clavinova, would there be any specific Roland you would recommend?

Would any recommend a specific place to buy digital pianos in WA?, online or in a retail shop

My main issue so far with looking online is I'm not sure whether it is a good price

There are a few shops around the city which you could have a look at, I like Mega Music when they have specials. Park Pianos on Albany Hwy is a Yamaha dealer so if you are after a Yamaha digital its good to have a look there and try out the models although I do find they are pricey. If you are strapped for cash looking for a good 2nd hand piano is the best way it does take time however which might not be very fun! Sometimes there are great deals on gumtree, quokka, newspaper etc, other times there is absolutely nothing.

I might get a Clavinova, they seem to fit my needs, no bells and whistles but good quality.

I've heard quite a few good things about them, would there be any specific models better than others?
