Unlike Rachmaninoff, I like EVERYTHING by Scriabin!

However, these are my favorites:

sonatas 5-10 (especially "Black Mass" No. 9)
 etude Op. 42 No. 5
etude Op. 8 No. 12 (used to be my first love, but then I grew desensitized of it)
Etude Op. 2 No. 1
Prelude Op. 67 No. 1
Poem of fire
Poem of ecstasy (no piano in it but whatever)
MYSTERIUM (glad he didn't finish it or else he would have ended the world...  Literally)
Poem Op. 69 No. 2
Ver la Flamme

You have to listen to ALL of them if you haven't!  I would suggest you start off with Op. 2 No. 1 then work your way up.  It's cool to see how he changed from romanticism to ugly.  But if you're curious about his late works, then start off with Op. 69 No. 2, or sonata 9, or sonata 7!

But when you listen to later Scriabin...  Don't do it alone at night.

His 10th piano sonata is pretty awesome.
Currently learning -

- Bach: P&F in F Minor (WTC 2)
- Chopin: Etude, Op. 25, No. 5
- Beethoven: Sonata, Op. 31, No. 3
- Scriabin: Two Poems, Op. 32
- Debussy: Prelude Bk II No. 3

It's cool to see how he changed from romanticism to ugly.

Some of Scriabin's most beautiful music was composed in his later period. I would hardly consider any of it ugly.

Favorite pieces:
Op. 65
Sonatas: 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10
Op. 74
Poem of Ecstasy (Remains my favorite orchestral work to this day)
Concerto (Surprisingly hated by Rimsky K and adored by Liadov)
Fantasy
Op. 69
Poeme-Nocturne

I have doubts to weather or not Scriabin could have finished the Mysterium, which supposedly was intended to be a 7 day synthesis of all arts (This would include visual arts, auditory arts, philosophy, dance, etc.) where the dancers would, at certain times, play instruments and musicians would dance. All of this with a cast of 100,000 people.

Yeh, Scriabin went a bit nuts toward the end, didn't he?

Maybe a bit. I don't buy into his supposed "insanity" as much as some people.
