Musical Term-- Harmonic Inflection
on: July 27, 2012, 09:45:44 PM
Hi,

I ran across the the "harmonic inflection" in a Brahms biography I've been reading, Johannes Brahms by Jan Swafford.  It was used in a discussion of his Intermezzo op. 118, no. 2 (which I struggled with forever, and have pretty much given up on.)

What does harmonic inflection mean?  I found a pretty good discussion using this term in this forum at:

I can't find anything much via Google.  I looked up the term "inflection" in a music dictionary, and came up with:

"Any change or modification of pitch or tone."

Thanks for any help at all.

John
