Gift Ideas for the Holiday Season
on: October 08, 2004, 02:51:10 PM
Hi everyone.  As we all know, the holiday season is approaching.  I thought it would be fun and useful for people to post interesting and unique gift ideas with the musician/music lover in mind.  These posts can include gifts you have previously received or something you had given to someone else.  I'll start:

You guys would like this set of 2 books:

"Music and Medicine: Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, and Schubert: Notes on their Lives, Works, and Medical Histories"

"Music and Medicine: Chopin, Smetana, Tchaik, and Mahler: Notes on their Lives, Works, and Medical Histories"

Check out the gift ideas at these two sites:

www.themusicstand.com

www.albertsgifts.com

Both have tons of gift ideas for musicians. I have purchased, shirts, office supplies, jewelry, home decorations, pajama's,socks, even boxers (haha) with sheet music designs all over them, as well as other piano theme motifs. Almost all my Christmas wishlist items are from these places.

Another item I would like (which I mention to any relative or friend that asks) is a gift certificate for a free piano lesson. I provide my teachers name, phone#, and time he can be reached and let them know that if they contact him, I'm sure arrangements can be made!  I hoping my family will actually listen to me this year.....I don't think I can stand getting another toaster!!!!!!

I second this idea... Not only will the person fall in love with you, but you'll have spent so much money that you'll have to move in with them and therefore, you will be able to use it too!  :D

Idea--

How about bedsheets with music on them? That way, you'd sleep in sheet music (and be able to drool over a masterwork).

Poems of Ecstasy – Scriabin’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

The great early 20th-century composer Alexander Scriabin left us 74 published opuses, and several unpublished manuscripts, mainly from his teenage years – when he would never go to bed without first putting a copy of Chopin’s music under his pillow. All of these scores (220 pieces in total) can now be found on Piano Street’s Scriabin page. Read more
