feel the vibration?
on: October 08, 2004, 05:47:53 PM
I am just curious (because I have never heard anybody talk about it)...

Do people pay attention to the vibration which can be felt through the piano keys, while playing?

Even if you do not, I would really like to know.  If you do, I would really like to know that too  :D!  And, if you have developed any thoughts on the subject which you are willing to share I, of course, would like to know those as well.

Thanks,

Yeah, I know the feeling- but I feel it most in uprights rather than grands.

Sometimes the feeling empowers me, sending me off on a huge adrenaline rush and I tend to lose control..

or, if I am nervous the feeling terrifies me because I know the piano and the piece I am playing will swallow me whole.

in any case, it makes you feel as if the world is going to implode and the energy will be released through your fingers.

In school during the music lessons we once had "minimal music" what means, you play a passage again and again (till you become crazy  ;D ).

After a few minutes or so you automatically start recognizing the play more intensively (in case of a slow piece you can feel the vibrations).

I tried combining minimal music and meditating, a nice experience.
