Audience or no audience
on: August 23, 2012, 01:39:05 PM
Hello,

I'm wondering, do you prefer to have an audience when you play or not?
I must admit that i can only put my all into it when i'm on my own, no one listening. To me, it seems like something intimate, and that the people listening to me can read my emotions, so i feel exposed. Am I the only one?

Yep, that's sorta the point of music ;)

I also have trouble for the same reason...I want to share these feelings with others, but I guess I get nervous and start "stammering my words", so to speak.

No, you're absolutely not the only one! i'm like this too. sometimes even i listen to others'playing in front of me, i'd secretly feel nervous and embarrassed and comfortbalzin heart.

i prefer performing to an audience. i HATE recording for the camera. i prefer to practice on my own, i have to be alone. i won't play if there's anyone else in the room/house/apt etc. if im 'alone' in a practice room all is good until i hear someone outside listening in, then it starts to falls apart and i have to stop until they leave.
