What is the meaning of the time signature in the Roslavets?--that is, why is it written as 3/8+2/8?  While 5/8=3/8+2/8 is undeniably a true statement I do not understand its relevance here.

puzzled, s.

If you look closeley, you'll see that the top is 3/8+2/8 and the bass is 2/8+3/8. The dotted line in each bar indicates that the 3 in the top is played against the 2 in the bottom and the 2 in the top is played against the 3 in the bottom. On my reading, that actually makes it 4/8 time with triplets switching between the hands at the dotted line. You could choose which staff to make the master so that was in 5/8 time, but apparently not both, and fit the other hand to it, or you could or take the whole thing in 4/8.  I'm guessing either he is offering that freedom, or the Vodka he'd drunk befor composing it had something nasty in it.

Too bad 'Someone please shoot me' has already been used on this thread.

I've got a good one:

It's going like this the whole time from the beginning, with things like triplets but with eleven notes (whats that called, with nine it's called nonuplet. maybe undecimuplet? sounds stupid) Anyway, this piece was composed especially for a competition and holy sh*t if this isn't ridicolous, I don't know what is.

Here's the link if you wanna look at the whole sheet: Link

What the...? <headdesk>
A wrong note played timidly is a wrong note. A wrong note played with authority is an interpretation.

Does anybody have a picture of that piece (I think it's by Schoenberg) that you have to pick the sections at random (I think)?  My prof had a picture of it on the wall in his studio... very strange piece. Never played it, but it was crazy looking.

I'm stunned by the stuff you post and claim to be playable, holy crap!

Here is the craziest "piece of music" (if you can call it that) I have ever seen (plus the ones you sent). There are so many mock-ups online of this I can't tell if this is the original because...it would take some time and its hard to tell hahaha. Its apparently a music from "touhou" games or something that someone rearranged and made absolute hell out of it.

I guess this is a mockup because of the jokes... but name in the sheet is the same. And its apparently not playable, according to synthesia you would need 15+ fingers.

Here is a synthesia video of it:

What's that squiggly mesh of notes at the end of the second line?  Looks like a question mark or something... haha! weird  :)

i believe the best effect can be had by having your audinece member lay under the piano. that's how interpret it at least. simple enough i think as long as you ask nicely.

Not likely. There's about half a dozen ffffffs before this. They'd be too deaf to fully appreciate your efforts.

This is when you sub your Steinway out and take Boosendorfer off the bench.

You of course vary the distance between the audience and the piano depending on the amount of f's you see!

I believe the BOOsendorfer goes waaaaaaaay beyond AA. :D
Bach - Partita No.2
Scriabin - Etude 8/12
Debussy - L'isle Joyeuse
Liszt - Un Sospiro

Goal:
Prokofiev - Toccata
