Yet another performance
on: October 11, 2004, 03:04:56 AM
Around Christmas I will be having a recital/performance, and I just wanted to know your opinions on it and possibly any suggestions you may have. Thanks Guys.

-PART 1

Bach - Italian Concerto

Scarlatti- 2 sonatas

Haydn- Sonata in C major Hob.XVI:50

INTERMISSION

PART 2

Chopin- Raindrop Prelude
           -Prelude in C minor
           -Revolutionary Etude
           - Heroic polonaise

Schubert Impromptu Op. 90 No 3

Beethoven Apssaionata mov 1

What do you think? Too much Chopin or unevenly balanced etc...? Thanks a lot.

For the second half, I would do Beethoven, then Schubert, then the Chopin.

I second everyone - dont end with first mov. appasionata.  Now, if you played the whole thing...

and maybe, kick off the recital with the revolutionary etude- get everyone's attention!  well, that's what I would do anyway

After switching the program as was suggested, I think the first have is a little heavy on Baroque, mainly if your audience isn't very understanding of classical. I don't know how long the Haydn Sonata is, but if you switched it with the Appassionata, that might add more flavor to the first half. So the order would be:

Bach
Scarlatti
Beethoven
~ ~
Haydn
Schubert
Chopin

However, this order is a little unorthodox, so maybe try it out (or disregard it altogether if it looks apalling to you  :P) to see how it sounds.

Good luck!
