Sat my exam today!
on: October 11, 2004, 09:16:34 AM
I sat my Grade 8 practical today at 3.02 pm precisely! Why do they have such stupid times?

I kind of let my nerves get the better of me though, even after drinking quite a substantial amount of Bach's Rescue Remedy! Is it some kind of horrible ironic pun that it's called Bach's or not?

My hands shook all over the place, my pieces probably sounded terribly discordant.

I'll probably get my results on Wednesday

Hehe, just thought you all might want to know!

Grace 8)

btw, has anyone sat an accompanionists' ATCL? My teacher wants me to do one next year. She thinks that playing with someone else will calm me down!
If only life was a musical :)

Ooh I hope you do well. I was always more terrified of music exams than any other type. I thought I'd messed up my grade 8, but managed to scrape through somehow. I could SO do with some more lessons now though, as I don't seem to have the discipline to practise things properly any more. Do you want to play for fun or professionally at the end of the day?

Well done! I sat my Amus diploma yesterday (9:00AM, too early), and it felt so good afterwards though truly I doubt I passed. I got shaky hands too. I also had way too many Rescue Remedy drops. I think I was starting to smell like a drunk person.

I think one always does a tad better than they think they did, so don't worry too much.

I agree with trying out doing the accompanist thing. When you play with someone else, you kind of realise this performing in front of other people thing doesn't have to be quite as traumatic as you had thought before. Plus there is of course someone else way more scared than you playing, which is always nice.  :P

Did you pass?

I suffer the same problem and am trying ways to overcome it. (Playing in front of people at every opportunity and trying to find my own little world when playing)

Does that Bach's Rescue Remedy actually work? I've never heard of it before. I googled it, and most of the results were animal care sites. Was it intended for human consumption? It doesn't seem like it works too well if two of you have used it and were still nervous and shaky. I'm curious about this stuff.
