Music Schools in Washington DC
on: February 08, 2003, 04:30:30 PM
Hello,
Im relocating from the Wilmington Delaware area to Washington DC. I'm currently taking private adult lessons and my 2 month old daughter will also (hopefully) take lessons when she is older. I am interested in suggestions for good music schools in DC that offer lessons for adults and children. I would love to find either a school or a teacher that provides private lessons.

Any pointers that this forum could provide would be good for starters.

Thanks in advance.

In Washington you have the Levine School, which has a very wide range of offerings and several locations. They have a website with contact info and their catalogue. I am enrolled in the adult piano performance class, which meets monthly and gives us a chance to play a Steinway D!
Also there is the Washington Conservatory, a smaller but also excellent school. See their website.

I've studied with Donnie Lofton and Leova Kaplan at the Washington Conservatory of Music along with playing in several groups at Levine.  I absolutely loved the Washington Conservatory and can't really imagine finding a better teacher than Donnie or Leova.  Whenever people comment on how good my touch is I give the credit to Donnie who started me out.

Contact: Dr. Ken Mahood, PhD. who is near that area.
Or contact me, who teaches nationwide "ByPhone" for over 8 years.

I have taught piano for over 40 years. Through me you will learn 3-5 years in the first 6 months. I train Piano Teachers nationwide besides teach students this way. It really works! :D

Adults love this program!
